Kricketot Amigurumi Pattern
Could this be the Pokémon amigurumi pattern that no one asked for? Maybe… But I love Kricketot! The nice and plump egg-shaped body and the little details – chefs kiss!
Before we get started on the pattern here are a few useful details.
Kricketot is approximately 9cm tall, 12cm when you include the antennas, 6cm in both width and from front to back. Weight: 40grams (this includes all materials used to make it)
I would recommend assembling Kricketot in the same order the pattern is written. I like to google a picture of the characters I make from Pokémon Go and refer back to that for the best possible outcome. I used to screenshot a photo from the game, but I stopped playing it just over a year ago as it was too addictive and time consuming. Not to mention my poor phone battery... Anyway... I find it very useful to pin all the pieces in place before sewing to make sure it looks right.

THE PATTERN
HEAD & BODY

R3: (dc, inc) x 6 (18)
R4: (dc, inc, dc) x 6 (24)

R7-8: dc 30
R9: (dc 4, inc) x 6 (36)
R10-11: dc 36
Place the oval safety eyes in Round 5. The first eye should go in st number 9 and the second eye in st number 16.
R12: (dc 5, inc) x 6 (42)
R13-14: dc 42
R15: (dc 6, inc) x 6 (48)
R16-21: dc 48

It’s time to start stuffing the head and body.
R26: (dc 3, dec) x 6 (24)
R27: (dc 2, dec) x 6 (18)
Check if Kricketot’s head & body is as firm/soft as you’d like it to be. If you need to add a bit more stuffing now’s the time before you work the final two rounds.
R28: (dc, dec) x 6 (12)
R29: dec x 6 (6)
Fasten off. Weave in loose end by inserting darning needle in the front loop of each st and pull tight to close the hole.
BELLY PIECE
Yarn: Claret and Buttermilk
The belly piece will be worked in rows from the bottom up. Starting with Claret:
ch 8
Row 1 (rs): inc, dc 5, inc (9), ch 1 and turn
R2 (ws): inc, dc 7, inc (11), ch 1 and turn
R3 (rs): dc 11, ch 1 and turn
change to buttermilk yarn. Before we move on I just wanted to check in… Are you reading this somewhere other than www.loopycathrine.com? Did you pay for it? Then you have been dooped. This is a free pattern on the above mentioned website only. Please head over there and let me know where you found it, report the seller on the platform you purchased the pattern and claim your money back. Thank you!
R4 (ws): dc 11, ch 1 and turn
R5-9: dc 11, ch 1 and turn
R10 (ws): sk over first st, dc 8, sk over next st, dc (9), ch 1 and turn
R11 (rs): dc 9
R12 (ws): sk over first st, dc 6, sk over next st, dc (7), ch 1 and turn
R13-15: dc 7
Fasten off and leave long tail to sew the piece onto the front of the body. Attach the top of this piece between rows 7 and 8 making sure there’s a gap of one round below the safety eyes.
COLLAR
Yarn: Buttermilk
Make 2
The collar is worked in rows. You will make two and sew the wrong sides together to create a sturdy collar to attach to Kricketot’s neck. Whip stitch only the outer edge. There’s no need to whip stitch the inner edge together as you can sew these directly onto the body.
ch 38
Row 1 (rs): dc in the second chain from hook. dc in each chain until the end (37), ch 1 and turn
Row 2 (ws): dc 3, (inc, dc) x 15, inc, dc 3 (53), ch 1 and turn
Row 3 (rs): dc 53
Fasten off and leave a long end for sewing. Attach the collar same as the belly piece, making sure there’s a gap of one round between the collar and the safety eyes. I’ve stitched mine in place along the top edge as well as the bottom edge.
NOSE
Yarn: Claret
ch3 – we will be working around the chains to create an oval shape:
Round 1: inc in the second chain from hook, inc in the next ch. Continue on the other side of the row of chains and increase in both chain loops (8)
R2: (inc, dc 2, inc) x 2 (12)
Fasten of and leave a long end to sew the nose onto the face.
ANTENNAS
Before we make the grey antlers, we’re going to make the head piece that is placed between them. For this you will repeat the nose pattern above in the same colour (Claret) and add an extra round as follows:
R3: dc 12.
Fasten off attach to the top of the head. Pull the pipe cleaner through from one side to the other.
Now let’s move onto the antennas:
Yarn: Graphite
Make 2
Round 1: dc 4 in Magic Ring (4)
R2: (inc, dc) x 2 (6)
R3: (inc, dc 2) x 2 (8)
R4-5: dc 8
R6: (dec, dc 2) x 2 (6)
R7-12: dc 6
R13: dec, dc 4 (5)
R14-17: dc 5
R18: dec, dc 3 (4)
R19-22: dc 4
Fasten off and leave a long end for sewing. Once you have created both antennas place them onto either side of the pipe cleaner and shape them into Kricketot’s antennas, and sew them into place.
WINGS
Yarn: Graphite
The wings will be worked in rows, from the top down.
ch 13
Row 1 (rs): dc in the second ch from hook, and dc in the next 11 chs (12), ch 1 and turn
R2 (ws): dc 12, ch 1 and turn
R3 (rs): inc, dc 10, inc (14), ch 1 and turn
R4-6: dc 14, ch 1 and turn
R7 (rs): sk over the first st, dc 11, skip over the next st, dc (12), ch 1 and turn
R8 (ws): dc 12, ch 1 and turn
The bottom of the piece will now be slit into to sections, creating the tips of each wing. Without breaking off the yarn continue as follows:
R9 (rs): sk over the fist st, dc 5 (5), ch 1 and turn
R10 (ws): sk over the fist st, dc 4 (4), ch 1 and turn
R11 (rs): sk over the fist st, dc 3 (3), ch 1 and turn
R12 (ws): sk over the fist st, dc 2 (2), ch 1 and turn
R13 (rs): sk over the fist st, dc (1)
Fasten off and leave long end for sewing.
Attach the yarn in next unworked st of round 8 with the right side facing
R9 (rs): dc 4, sk over the next st, dc (5)
R10 (ws): dc 3, sk over the next st, dc (4)
R11 (rs): dc 2, sk over the next st, dc (3)
R12 (ws): dc, sk over the next st, dc (2)
R13 (rs): sk over the next st, dc (1)
Fasten off and leave long end for sewing. Pin in place at Kricketot’s back and make sure the flat top edge is aligned nicely to the bottom of the collar.
ARMS
Yarn: Graphite
Make two
Round 1: dc 4 in Magic Ring (4)
R2: inc in all sts around (8)
