Darumaka Amigurumi Pattern
I’m really excited to finally share my pattern for the Pokémon with the lower back tattoo, and the best eyebrows in the business: Darumaka!
I think this is quite possibly one of my favourite shiny Pokémon! The colours… LOVE! Anyway… that’s all I have to say about this one. Let’s get into the details:
The pattern will consist of two parts:
Part One | Head/Body (Sun, 6 Apr at 17:00BST)
Part Two | Eyebrows, Arms, Legs, Hands & Feet, Tail (Sun, 13 Apr at 17:00BST)
I would love to see your makes over on my Instagram, so please don’t forget to tag me and use #loopycathrineamigurumi
YARN & HOOK
2mm hook
Stylecraft Special DK in Tomato, Spice and Citrus (Shiny: Fondant, Saffron, and Lemon)
6mm black safety eyes
White felt
Toy filling
Pins to place pieces before sewing together
Needle
Stitch markers (I prefer using scrap yarn as “stitch markers”)
Fibres in black, white, orange and yellow for needle felting*
Needle felting tool*
* Please note that I have used needle felting to create the various details around Darumaka’s face and body. Needle felting is still something I don’t feel comfortable ‘teaching’. I’m still just winging it! So I will not be including instructions on how to do this. A quick google search will give you plenty of instructions from actual experts. Or, you may want to look into alternative ways of creating the these details.
SIZE
Darumaka is approximately 8cm, their body is 6.5cm in width, 12cm in with from fingertip to fingertip.
Weight: 32g (this includes all materials used to make Darumaka. To give you some perspective, the yarn I use comes in 100g balls, which means you will not need a lot of each colour)

ASSEMBLY
Assemble in the same order the pattern is written. I would recommend using a photo of Darumaka sourced from a card or a game as reference for best possible outcome (I like to screenshot the characters in Pokémon GO, as you can get all the angles). Pin all the pieces in place before sewing to make sure it looks right. Small adjustments make a huge difference! Once all the crocheted pieces are attached use fabric glue to glue down the felt.
THE PATTERN
PART ONE | HEAD/BODY
I have used Stylecraft Special DK in Tomato for the regular Darumaka, and Fondant for the Shiny version.
PART TWO | EYEBROWS, ARMS, LEGS, HANDS & FEET, TAIL
I’ve used Stylecraft Special DK in Citrus to create regular Darumaka’s fabulous eyebrows, and Lemon for the shiny version. Regular Darumaka’s arms, legs and tail are made with Tomato, and Fondant for the shiny version. And finally regular Darumaka’s arms & feet are made with Spice and Saffron for the shiny version.
