Stylecraft Special DK in Bluebell & Cream
9mm black safety eyes
White felt
Fabric glue

Spheal is approximately 7.5cm tall (or approx. 8cm if you include the ears).Weight: 40 grams (this includes all materials used to make Spheal)
STITCHES & ABBREVIATIONS – UK ENGLISH
ch chain
dc double crochet

inc dc 2 in one st
dec decrease; insert hook in the front loop of the next two sts, yarn over, pull through both loops, y.o. and pull through remaining two loops –> one dc placed into two sts
ASSEMBLY
Assemble in the same order the pattern is written. I would recommend using a photo of Spheal as reference for best possible outcome. Pin all the pieces in place before sewing to make sure it looks right, including the felt pieces. Once all the crocheted pieces are attached use fabric glue to attach the felt pieces.

Place the safety eyes in
R19 roughly 8-9 sts apart. Start firmly.

Fasten off and sew in loose end by inserting darning needle in the front loop of each st and pull tight to close the hole.
MOUTH
Yarn: Bluebell
Make 2
ch4 – we will be working around the chains to make an oval shape.
Round 1: inc in second ch from hook, dc in the middle ch, and inc in the last chain. Continue to the other side of the chains: inc in second ch from hook, dc in the middle ch, and inc in the last chain. (10)

Fasten off and leave long end for sewing. Pin both pieces along the unworked front loops of R21. Once pinned evenly at the front of the face under the eyes, sew into place.
EARS
Yarn: Bluebell
Make 2
Round 1: dc 5 in Magic Ring (5)

Fasten of and leave a long end to sew the piece onto head.
FEET
Yarn: Cream

Fasten of and leave a long end to sew the piece onto body.

Fasten off and leave long end for sewing.
Once you’ve made three pieces place them flat next to each other and sew them together along the sides. Stuff lightly. Once finishes attach to body.
FELT & EMBROIDERY FLOSS
Cut out 6 round pieces of white felt (two sets of 1 small & 2 large), and glue each set on both sides of Spheal’s body.Cut out two small triangles of white felt and shape each of them into small cone shaped fangs/teeth and glue these onto Spheal’s mouth.
Use black embroidery floss to create Spheal’s nostrils.
